FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Williamsburg House of Mercy Receives Gift from Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation

Williamsburg House of Mercy has received $1725 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation just in time to help feed local residents. Williamsburg House of Mercy will use the gift to support the Shelf Stable and Mobile Food Pantries, as need increases over the summer months.

“Through the support and partnership of the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation gift we will be able to feed more than 500 children this summer. This will make an impact as working parents struggle to make ends meet and children on summer vacation eat more meals at home,” said Executive Director, Shannon Woloszynowski.

Through family-friendly, fresh, and shelf-stable ingredients, Williamsburg House of Mercy supports the ongoing stability and strengthening of families in the greater Williamsburg area.

Williamsburg House of Mercy provides compassionate human services to all people, regardless of faith, putting a special emphasis on the most vulnerable. House of Mercy provides a safe and welcoming environment for area homeless to find respite, receive services, and work toward ending their homelessness. We also offer emergency assistance to help those struggling to maintain housing and regain stability.

In 2017, Williamsburg House of Mercy housed 41 children in 54 households and provided food, medical assistance, clothing, diapers, emergency utility assistance, and homeless prevention support to over 2,313 total people. They receive no state or federal dollars, and operate solely on the generosity of the community. For more information on our organization, please visit www.williamsburghouseofmercy.org.
