Williamsburg House of Mercy welcomed Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity brothers and Christopher Newport University Police Department volunteers to the November Monthly Mobile Food Pantry. This month was particularly busy because of the large amount of fresh carrots, onions and fresh fruit that needed to be sorted and packaged for the guests. In response to the increased need for Williamsburg House of Mercy’s food security efforts, the Monthly Mobile Food Pantry happens at two locations: downtown Williamsburg at 10 Harrison Avenue and in Toano at Stonehouse Presbyterian. Volunteers from all over the area, including students from Veritas Preparatory School and Walsingham Academy and members of Saint Bede Catholic Church regularly serve more than 800 individuals each month.

The Williamsburg House of Mercy partners with over 15 faith groups and various businesses and nonprofit organizations to help minister to the poor and homeless in Williamsburg. They see men, women, and children who are in desperate need of the basic necessities, including food and shelter. Services and programs focus on a mission of providing financial assistance, food stability, homeless services, crisis pregnancy support, homeless rehousing and other outreach assistance to the greater Williamsburg community.

If your business or organization would like to serve or sponsor a month of the Mobile Food Pantry, please contact 757-229-3700 or email [email protected].
