We are so grateful for the support from our community as we complete our first full month of Community Soup Kitchen Meals. Thanks to your generosity at our GiveLocal757, our meals are fully funded through October! We raised just over $4650! Individuals and families like you are the reason we are able to bring so many people to our table on a regular basis.

We are also grateful for the local community organizations and businesses who are partnering with us this summer. The Junior Woman’s Club of Williamsburg and the Rotary Club of James City County both provided grants in support of our efforts. Allure Bakery brought desserts and biscuits to our table on National Biscuit Day to show their support of homemade, carefully prepared meals for our neighbors in need.

Steve Sparkman’s State Farm office joined the growing list of business sponsors for a week of Community Soup Kitchen meals at Williamsburg House of Mercy (pictured). In July, State Farm Steve Sparkman’s office also has pledged to donate $20 to the Williamsburg House of Mercy for every new household that provides his office with the opportunity to quote their auto, home, and or/life insurance as part of his “Quotes for Good” initiative.

Both the Williamsburg Morgan Stanley branch and Patrick Henry Square offices sent teams to serve at our June monthly Mobile Food Pantry—a huge blessing with so much fresh produce to sort and package. When our community comes together, we change lives!

If your family is looking to serve Williamsburg this summer, here’s a few ways to stay involved:

– Donate new or gently used books to our Summer Book Drive. These books are given to children as families come in for assistance.

– Sponsor a week of meals. $200 covers breakfast for the Harbor Day Shelter for the Homeless, lunch for the Community Soup Kitchen, and the drinking water that is so important as temperatures rise.

– Serve at the Monthly Mobile Food Pantry (first Friday of the month at 10 Harrison Avenue or the following Monday at Stonehouse Presbyterian).
