Progress thermometer for renovation funds at $171,436 of $218,000.

We cannot believe the transformation that has taken place at 10 Harrison Avenue! The walls are up, painting almost completed, and our vision for a space that meets all needs is more than halfway finished! We are very grateful for the many people who have joined our mission and raised $171,436 of our $218,000 goal!

This month we would like to highlight a few of our community partners who are working with us to make sure that services continue smoothly and our renovations reach their full potential.

Last month, we spoke about our plans for an expansion of our Community Kitchen to five days a week. This is one of many efforts to expand local access to fresh fruits, vegetables and lean proteins. The Williamsburg Health Foundation has generously provided us with a grant to purchase two commercial refrigeration units. Anyone who has volunteered in our kitchen knows how much of a necessary improvement this will be! We are still looking for a donor to provide us with a commercial washer and dryer, but know our community will come through.

Obviously, demolition and construction made it impossible to keep hosting our first Friday Monthly Mobile Food Pantry, where hundreds of men, women, and children come for a market style food distribution. Thankfully, the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank and Salvation Army partnered to keep our Williamsburg families receiving fresh food, meat, and other much needed grocery items for the past two months.

We are excited to see things taking shape and look forward to welcoming our community to the new space with a late spring open house! Check out our progress below:
